Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. At 1445hrs Command and Control Helicopter 1-20 Infantry received about 30 rounds of automatic weapons fire with negative hits.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
May 15, 1968
At 2316hrs Alpha Company will out at 0500hrs tomorrow and move north to grid 065229 out of the area they were mortared, at 2351hrs Alpha Company is starting to move out. CPL BOBBY MOORER LISTED AS KHA (Died of Wounds see May 14, 1968). Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry and Delta Company 1-6 Infantry were moving out of area. At 1532hrs Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry received 4 rounds 81mm Mortar fire results 4 US WIA (E) firing counter mortar now. At 1615hrs Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry and Delta Company 1-6 Infantry is receiving Mortar fire at this time.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company was to remain at the scene of the fighting from the day before at BT056227 and search and sweep the contact area. At 0116hrs Bravo Company is received 9 rounds of 82mm Mortar landed 150 meters west of their position and call artillery on suspected position at BT049220 with no damage or casualties. At 1452hrs Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry at BT068226 observed 50 caliber machine gun firing, Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry and Delta Company 1-6 Infantry were moving out of area. Helix 42 was directing aircraft and receiving fire was hit and had to be replaced by Helix 21. At 2205hrs Delta Company 3-1 Infantry received 4 rounds 82mm Mortar rounds outside the perimeter with no casualties or damage. Fired 4.2 Mortars at suspected enemy location.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. Captain Jerry W. Swenson took over Command around this time.
Delta Company
May 15, 1968
Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Ross and will conduct patrols is a Search and Clear Operations to the North and West area outside of LZ Ross. At 1134hrs Delta Company at BT070375 found a booby trap and blew it in place. Vietnamese civilians report 2 groups of VC about 30 were located at BT084385 and BT069385. At 1100hrs Vietnamese civilians say VC will attack checkpoint (east) with 300 VC at 1130hrs will check out. Checkpoint East is at BT082390 between Baldy and Ross used by mine sweep team.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon.
