Headquarters and Headquarter Company
September 19, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Chevy and will continued to work with ARVN units and Special Forces in their Area of Operations. The 1-20 Infantry begins their part in Operation CHAMPAIGN GROVE and OPCON to Task Force GALLOWAY.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco with an S-4 section at Chu Lai.

 

Alpha Company
September 19, 1968

Alpha Company swept the area of the previous day’s contact with negative results. In Area adjacent to Alpha Company contact, Bravo Company found 21 NVA KIA.

 

Bravo Company
September 19, 1968

Bravo Company swept the area adjacent to Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry contact and found 21 NVA KIA.

 

Charlie Company
September 19, 1968

Charlie Company at 1203hrs vicinity BS346694 found 60 spiders holes containing 10 NVA KIA, 10 RPG-7 rounds, 6 57mm RR rounds, 10 60mm mortar rounds, and 500 pounds of rice with misc. Webb gear and continued their search and clear operation in the area. Charlie Company reports the following PFC Joel Craig awarded Purple Heart. SGT Euschi Santellana and PFC Carlos M. Lira injured to 2nd Surgical Hospital.

 

Delta Company
September 19, 1968

Delta Company began sweeping the area of their contact of the previous afternoon. At 0915hrs vicinity BS345695, Delta Company received 2 rounds of mortar fire resulting in 2 WHA. Delta Company continued to search the area and at 1045hrs vicinity BS349692 found 5 NVA KIA and 1 AK-47. At 1130hrs Delta Company at BS347694 their 4 KHA from contact yesterday have been recovered and evac out at 1130hrs. At 1320hrs Delta Company vicinity BS346690 they found 5 NVA KIA by Small Arms floating in a river.

 

Echo Company
September 19, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Chevy where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Chevy. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Chevy where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion).
