Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Americal Division prepared LZ Code Name for Artillery Fire Support Base at Minh Long Special Force Camp it is proposed that the Fire Support Base Camp in vicinity BS534316 occupied by Charlie Battery 3 Battalion 18 Artillery to be named LZ Crunch.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0845hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS720586 found 40 pound mine (homemade anti vehicle) blew in place and left crater 10’ by 5’. At 1325hrs E Troop 1 Cav at BS921211 APC was hit with B-40 rocket with negative injuries to personnel in vehicle but APC was a total combat loss.
Alpha Company
December 20, 1968
At 1004hrs Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon with 1 element at BS749506. At 1215hrs Alpha Company at BS785495 received sniper fire from village approximately 7 rounds, returned fire into the village with results 2 VC KIA in black PJ and are searching area for spider holes, bunkers and tunnel systems. At 1305hrs Alpha Company at BS785495 spotted VC evading engaged 1 VC KIA. At 1400hrs Alpha Company detained 9 VCS all said they had relatives of VC going to be taken to Mo Duc. At 1635hrs Alpha Company vicinity BS765513 has element pinned down in rice paddy receiving heavy automatic and small arms fir approximately 8 VC engaged with artillery and called for gun ships.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Bravo Company has the 61 element conducting a Search and Clear Operation at BS747425. At 1851hrs Bravo Company has the 91 element at BS715480.
Charlie Company
December 20, 1968
At 0700hrs Charlie Company and Recon conducts a Combat Assault from BS747586 to BS655588 last LZ at 0734hrs. At 1140hrs Charlie Company reports locations Command Post at BS660587, 21 at BS663588. At 1405hrs Charlie Company at BS664584 detained 2 VC men questioned 1 confirmed VC from C65 Unit said left behind for safety measure. At 1430hrs Charlie Company at BS667585 spotted 4 VC engaged WIA 1 all other got away and pursued and found 1 M-79 #US66505, also 1 M-1 rifle #363350, 1 US pistol belt, 3 US frag Hand grenades with 2 hand grenades hand made along with 1 M-1 rifle magazine. At 14851hrs Charlie Company located in their Night Defense Position at BS658592 with 66 at BS658583.
Delta Company

Delta Company is located at LZ Bronco and will continue their Stand Down.
Echo Company
December 20, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Liz where Battalions Headquarters Forward is located and coordinates the Battalion Rear elements and Base Defense element on LZ Liz. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Liz where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 0700hrs Charlie Company and Recon conducts a Combat Assault from BS747586 to BS655588 last LZ at 0734hrs. At 1004hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS650583. At 1140hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS649579.
